The Pub Club (May 12): Abstract Workshop
May 12, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

With a full summer of conferences lined up, abstract season is here! We’ve spent all semester working towards improving scientific communication, so let’s put our skills to the test!
Abstracts are short summaries of many months (sometimes years!) of research. The amount of work that goes into the research behind the abstract often makes it difficult to write a clear, concise summary. How do you know what information to include or exclude? When is an abstract too dense or too vague? How does a conference abstract compare to a manuscript abstract?
To discuss this, The Pub Club will host an abstract workshop. We’ll have a short discussion on different types of abstracts, what distinguishes a good abstract, and approaches for writing good abstracts. This discussion will be followed by group editing, so please come prepared with 3 copies of your abstract!
Upcoming abstract deadlines:
Conference | Deadline |
ICAR 2017 | May 12th |
Plant Biology 2017 (ASPB) | May 24th |
BIC/NAPIA (MSU) | August 31st |
