The Pub Club (June 2): Conference Prep Series – Strategic Conference Experience Management

June 2, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Why do we go to conferences? To Learn of new breakthroughs and/or methods and Share our recent findings with others in our field? To Network? To Develop Skills by participating in workshops? To get re-motivated by Engaging with the greater science community? These are all good reasons to attend and participate in scientific meetings, but how often do we take time prior to conferences to develop a game plan to maximize our experience once there? Considering the amount of time and money we invest, why not apply our research skills to conference-going?!

This week, The Pub Club will discuss developing a strategy for maximizing your conference experience. This will include topics such as How to pick the right conference, How to effectively network, and proper etiquette for Conference Tweeting. In keeping with The Pub Club Mission of Diverse Skill development, we will also have activities relating to these topics. As always, there will be food! So grab your lab mates and friends and come on down to the MPS atrium for the first in our Conference Prep Series!
