Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! The Pub Club’s annual Christmas party was, once again, a great success. The diversity of food on our banquet table reflected the diversity of our members, from Chinese dumplings, Yakisoba and butter chicken to smoked pork shoulder, chocolate truffles and Christmas cookies.
Following the Christmas feast, we had a great time with our traditional White Elephant Gift Exchange. I believe there was a bit more stealing of presents this year, with the carnivorous plants and fancy stationary changing hands several times. Then there was the “puppy” (aka stuffed ground hog) that Miranda managed to steal from Brad P., and the movie & popcorn/candy combo that Brad Day’s daughter stole from Miranda’s husband. Afterwards, Masaki provided a hilarious demonstration with his enthusiastic scratching of his lottery tickets. I don’t believe he won enough for the new puppy he was dreaming of, but still a lot of laughs and a lot of fun.
