The Pub Club (June 30): Conference Prep Series – Capturing The Conference Experience

June 30, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

2016 IS-MPMI poster session

As much as we enjoy going to scientific conferences, they can be overwhelming and exhausting! The Pub Club likes to use the week after a conference for “Conference Highlights” to help us digest, retain and share what we gained during our Conference Experience. For the final Gathering of TPC’s Conference Prep Series, we will share our June Conference Highlights, and also learn how to use Storify to create a shareable story line using Tweets from the meeting.

07/10/16 – TPC Meet-up at Plant Biology ’16.

The original intent of The Pub Club’s “Alphanode” (3 labs on the 4th floor of MPS) was to capture “The Conference Effect” by creating an informal environment for the development of an interactive scientific community. Within this relaxed, community environment, scientists at every stage of their careers can gather to share and discuss new scientific discoveries (meeting on the edge of science), as well as brainstorm, trouble-shoot, discuss research ethics and topics relevant for scientific training and career development (filling the void). If you found the Summer Conference Prep Series useful and want to know how you can continue to participate in a local COM, stay after the workshop to discuss how you can be a part of creating new nodes of The Pub Club here at MSU.
