This week we will be catching up on one of our most popular TPC activities “Science Updates.” In the months of June and July we focused first on how all members of the Community might improve their skills and better take advantage of and connect with the larger Community. We did this through a series of workshops called the Conference Prep Series (see related posts here). Second, several members took advantage of the opportunity The Pub Club presents to use their local COM to improve both their Diverse Skills and their work product through practice and review at our Friday Gatherings. Because of the importance of these events the normal TPC opening focusing on science updates and general science discussion was set aside. As mentioned, Science Updates, started by Sheng Yang He, are one of our favorite things to do. Therefore, this week come prepared with the article, Tweet, or discovery that you found interesting this summer and share it with the group.

Summer at The Pub Club…

We are officially in the summer season of The Pub Club, which means an even more relaxed approach to our weekly Gatherings. While we will not plan topics for every week, we most definitely will plan things at your request! A popular example from previous summers is sharing conference updates when we come back from meetings. This summer, we will also do more hands-on workshops, similar to the abstract workshop we had on May 12, 2017. Please feel free to share ideas as you have them!
